Remember him?
Thats him playing for Brentford before he came to us.
He was amazing in his first game, then just faded away (not physically unfortunately! He could have done with losing a few pounds).
Anyway I'm just having a conversation with some Brentford fans on their forum (I'm signed up because I'm going to one of their games in December) and they see him as a hero and can't understand why he never made it at a higher level never mind over here.

yeah i remember Folan well. Was his first game against Rovers at Inchicore - i think he played alright as a sub that night but was just brutal and lazy for the rest of his time with Bohs. Moved to Galway and ended up working as a mechanic i think. Came to Bohs to increase his chances of playing for Ireland, he said...

I remember watching a VHS of the Bohs -v- Rovers game and hearing the height of pedantry from Eoin Hand (I think). Folan whipped in a shot that clipped the bar (maybe from a free kick) and Hamilton says something like "great play by Folan and he was very unlucky not to find the net there" Hand replied "Well to be correct about it George that was inaccurate play because he may have gone close but if he had dipped the shot a few inches lower it would have gone in so, as I say, it was inaccurate play".
I remember saying it to a few people at the time. Commentary gone mad.
Anyway yeah, Folan had the potential to be good but he was a big fat stocking of shit.

Didn't he play a couple of Premiership games for Palace or someone like that? Scored a cracking volley in Dalyer too, can't remember against who though
