A proper bucket collection organised by Mono and fair play to him for that and he was told that a collection for a damaged pub is priority....where are we going at all !! Evil or Very Mad |

I can't see why not, but I'd be amazed if the fans' initiative could raise €4,500 (£3,000).

The matter has been dealt with by the courts, which should be the end of it in my opinion. The time for apologising has come and gone and was completely missed by our snail-like PR dept*. Any damage done to our reputation has been done but if any idiot thinks what happened in the Tavern is symptomatic of all Bohs fans then they're just that, idiots. No bucket collection is going to change their minds.
As someone has already alluded to, Mr Curry has plenty of other avenues to seek financial redress and I personally think he's had enough of the limelight (which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy) for the moment.
IMO, a better way to promote a positive image of Bohs fans (and a better way to spend our money) is regular collections for the NBB, who were instrumental in promoting a very positive view of Bohs fans during the game last Tuesday. The more lolly they get, the better the displays/atmosphere/positive image we get (unless the leadership go cocaine crazy and start syphoning funds into offshore accounts).
But collections for the Tavern? No ta, but hey, each to their own...
*although its late in the day, I still think the Board should send a letter to Mr Curry apologising and distancing the club from these morons, if they haven't done already.

i think the collection is a great idea, the pubs insurace will cover the damage so i think whatever raised should go to a local derry charity of the publicans choice. that way everyone wins.and nice bit of postive pr for the club in derry

Any money left after €4500, you mad? And fans shouldn't have to pay for stupid fines incurred by the club when they'd nothing to do with it.

Agreed. And if there is ever money left for a collection like this, it should be given to charity or some more honourable cause than a stupid fine.

whats the for, this fine was because of a fuck up made by the club, fans shouldn't have to pay for the incompetence of the Kit man, how hard would it have been to bring both kits?

Some people will take the view that they did nothing wrong and wont contribute, which is fair enough but I think this isnt about re-paying this guy for the sake of it, but should been as more of a gesture to restore some good to the club's name/rep which has taken a serious hammering over the past few days.

That might have been the case if I had donated coins instead of notes .
Seriously, I want to add a huge thank you to all who shook the buckets and who made a contribution, whatever its size. This really is all about the gesture that ordinary supporters wished to make.
I also want to thank Mono for generously giving up the night that had been planned for People in Need. I look forward to supporting that at the semi final.
I would like to think that the club might match our donation, euro for euro. If they don't, well and good. Irrespective, I think that real fans getting out there and doing something in relation to what happened in Derry was a lot better than simply wringing our hands and saying how terrible it was.

Thanks to everybody who helped with, or contributed to, the collection.
PigBodine and I have just finished counting the money.
We have raised 953 euro.
We will keep the collection going for the next few days via Neil's PayPal account, and see what the best arrangements to make are for donating it next Friday when we visit Derry in the League.
Also, thanks to the Galway fans who contributed.
