There will be a bucket collection at Fridays Game Vs Galway.

All proceeds will go towards RTEs People In Need Telethon.

There will be people standing at the stiles as you come into the ground with buckets.

Please support, as all money raised will be handed over in the clubs name.

Cheers

Mono.

Can I suggest that whoever is organising this consider the following:

The People in Need Telethon takes place on Friday October 26, which is now the date of our FAI Cup Semi-Final against Cork at Dalymount. If the collection was held at that match instead, it would raise much more for People in need.

Also, as RTE will be at Dalymount anyway covering the game, the handover of the money could be done on the pitch at half time and RTE could send footage of the collection live to the Telethon studio (assuming it is on in the evening)

That would free up this Friday’s game for a bucket collection to contribute to the owner of the pub in Derry that was attacked by hooligans, which could be brought up to the Derry the following Friday when we play them in the League.

This would mean two collections taking place on dates that would maximise the impact of both of them. Could whoever is organising the People in need collection please consider this option?

Excellent thinking.

The buckets thing for Teleton is allready organised and bits of it will be filmed and sent to RTE.

So? Can't we re-arrange it? The FAI have been re-arranging things all season long.

If done on the 26th a live feed can come from Dalyer. IMO the club needs a few small articles in the weekend papers with a bit of positive PR and the bucket collection would defo bring them.

Dotsy, I know it has already been arranged, but if it were to be rescheduled, then:

* It would raise much more money for People in Need, which is I assume the point of the exercise,

* It would enable genuine fans to make an immediate response to the behaviour in Derry.

I think those benefits would outweigh the inconvenience of rescheduling it.

Im organising the club events for people in need.

This collection has already been organised and approved by the board, footage will be recorded and handed over to RTE for use on the broadcast of telethon, on Oct 26th.

The guys broadcasting the match on the night of cork game are only hired by RTE to cover the game so therefore would not get involved in any non match events unless instructed to do so by RTE.

I suggest having the collection (once approved by the board) at the cork game instead.

cheers

mono

I'm with Bionic Bohs on this one I have to say. Our image is at all-time low after what happened last night. We we DESPERATELY need to be seen to be proactive in relation to this. I appreciate all the work Mono et al have done in organising this very worthwhile collection for the RTE telethon, I saw some of the hard work you were doing in preparing posters etc. in the bar the other night and you deserve all the plaudits for your endeavours but surely it can be postponed for a mere two weeks for the sake of the club's reputation?

What type of buckets do we bring, new or second hand? I use a big mayonnaise tub as a bucket for digging bait, can I donate this if I give it a clean?

It was only 1-0.

And as SC says, you have to win one to lose one.

BARD has asked me to post a message here that the board has agreed to allow a collection at tomorrow's match against Galway for the owner of the bar in Derry that was attacked on Tuesday evening.

Also, thanks to Mono for rescheduling the People in need collection, which will now take place at the Cup Semi-Final against Cork, which is also the day of the Telethon.

Excellent news about collection at Galway game for Mr Curry. This is an initiative that has been demanded by ordinary supporters and should be remembered as a FANS' INITIATIVE.

I hope there is a very substantial donation to underline that all decent-minded Bohs supporters deplore and condemn the actions of the few people who drageed all our names into the gutter by their behaviour in Derry. I will do my bit on Friday.

I also hope that the Club's Board of Directors see fit to make a contribution on behalf of the club to this FANS' INITIATIVE.
