Lads Madden at the moment is undoubtedly our best striker. |
No he's not. He's our only consistantly fit striker. |
Who's better then? I'd like to think Byrne is better but this season Madden has been far superior to him, even when Byrnes been fit. |
If Quigley got to play up front all the time I've no doubt he'd have scored at least as many as Madden and would make more goals as well. Byrne when fit and with a consistant run in the team is better. Green has yet to get a run out and of course he should have scored against Bray but I think he's got more in reserve than Madden. I'd rate Raf higher than Madden too and would hope he'll get the run needed to show what he's got. All that brings me back to the point that we have way too many strikers. If I was to get rid of one based on ability it'd be Madden alas economics has to come into it so unfortunately Byrne is the obvious choice being on the big wages.

Quigley got plenty of time up front and has still only scored 1 goal. Oh and that includes a match against 'shit teams' like Bray, who Paddy Madden scored twice against last Friday!

Where would we be without Madden's 9 goals? He mightn't be the finished article, but he is not doing too bad for a young lad on modest wages in my book.

Oh dear ... here we go again back to I rate / I don't rate Paddy Madden .....
Look - we're supposed to be a professional club. When you have to cash in on your assets, you have to cash in. The fact is that we don't control who comes knocking on our door any more than we control who the knocker-on-the door is rumoured to be interested in.
If offers come our way, it's simply up to the club to listen to them and decide each on its merits.
Frankly, I'd be open to listening to offers for any of our squad.

He hasn't had a consstant run up front. Madden's had plenty of games where he didn't score. How many games has Quigley actually played up front?

agreed, another thread hijacked by the anti Madden camp!
I can only imagine what it's going to be like around here if the goals dry up for a game or 3!

He knows what he has to do. Hat trick against Rovers. All will be forgotten.

I agree with you, I am just getting tired of all the Madden bashing. As bohsfans said what will happen when he is gone and the goal dry up?

He did? When was that? And what is your definition of 'plenty of time'. He's had 2-3 starts up front all season.
What will we do when Maddens goals dry up? The same thing we did for the other 80% of games Madden played in for Bohs and failed to score in, get them somewhere else.
Also, I should state for the record that I haven't hacked into BP's account either

Yea give it a fucking rest at this stage - its boring. Just cos you keep on repeating and regurgitating the opinion doesn't mean he is the pox ruining the club.

Quigley showed at Pats that he is good up front, preferably behind the target man. I would have given him more of a chance up front seeing as he had proven himself in that position in the past. Fenlon seems to have signed him as more of a winger than a striker leaving Madden with more time up front with the other strikers being injured.
9 goals is still 9 goals all the same.

Funny how some want Murphy replaced and 2 others want Madden replaced, when these are our 5/6 league results since the break!
Bohemians 3 - 0 Dundalk
Bohemians 1 - 1 Sporting Fingal
U.C.D 0 - 2 Bohemians
Drogheda United 0 - 1 Bohemians (disqualify)
Bohemians 2 - 0 Sligo Rovers
Bray Wanderers 0 - 3 Bohemians

Are you forgetting the result which has dictated this whole chain of threads ....... T.N.S. 4-0 C.U.N.T.S
Murphy conceeded 4 (four) albeit none really his fault but he is hardly intimidating and didnt narrow any angles with his "physical" presence ..and over both legs Madden was fruitless.
That said I think Murphy & Madden are both plenty good for where Bohs are gonna be next season and it wont be top of the league or in the champions league
But had we progressed this year to a possible group stage of any kind, I think thats where both players would have been shown up as seriously needing improvement, and where Madden has youth & potential on his side, Murphy defo doesnt !!

what is peoples love affair with McGuinness? the fella has never really been a first choice regular in all the years he has been here. it seems similar to the whole Harkin debate.

Ideally IMO we could get rid of: Jayo, Oman, Higgins, Heary, Madden, Rossi.
Madden for potentially large fee and others simply for the high[ish] wages.

I'd agree with that! Not sure about Madden though, would be very nice to hang onto but if the right offer came in then we don't have much of a choice!
